Mind is a wonderful force inherent in the Self. That which arises in this body as "I" is the mind. When the subtle mind emerges through the brain and the senses, the gross [material] names and forms are cognized. When it remains in the Heart, names and forms disappear. If the mind remains in the Heart, the "I" or the ego which is the source of all thoughts will go, and the Self, the Real, Eternal "I" alone will shine. Where there is not the slightest trace of the ego, there is the Self.

The thought "I" is not the "I," but is the creation of mind, or is mind, for it is only a perception, nothing more. This "I" is what is meant when we say "I did," "I heard," "I feel," "I hope," "I think," ... When saying only "I" as being, not a doer, that is the Eternal Self. This means "I" alone is prior to any action or attribute by which we identify the phenonmenal "I" as "I," and therein lies the confusion. The mental construct "I" can only exists within experience, the Eternal Self, or bornless and deathless "I," is prior to experience and the Source of the phenomenal construct called "I." Then, in the Undivided Presence, before experience and conceptualization of experience in thought forms, there is no differentiation among what persons call God, self, and other: God, self, other is Oneness, and prior to the idea Oneness.

Is the "I" you use so often in self-reference something fixed in form, which you can show me? Or... Is the "I" you use so often in self-reference a sensation or idea, or both, changing within time?
